The Internet has exploded in growth
over the last several years. I'm proud to say, however, that I remember
the days when statistics
about the 'net weren't applicable, the days when FTP, MUDs, and E-mail
was all there was. I remember when gopher
came out, with Veronica, and it was the coolest thing since sliced bread.
Nowadays, though, the 'net is part of everday life. 10's
of millions of people traverse the 'cyberspace'
galaxy everyday. The amount of information (useless and valuable) on the
'net is incomprehensible. How could have I ever imagined that, 5
years ago when I hadn't even heard of the Internet, that I would
be working on it, earning
a living in it.
I remember when, even with the teachings of a great
master, I began to doubt the use of the Internet. It was pretty
cool and all, but after going to all the gopher sites I could find, reading
most of Usenet, I began to think that I had finally seen all that there
was to see.
Then came the web. Now even if I were constantly surfing
24 hours a day, I could not ever reach the end of the 'net, for as soon
as I had finished looking at one site, another three would have sprung
up.
So what's good on the 'net today? Glad you asked.
