Hey, final report from me on the storm: 6 3/4" of snow and some sleet
have accumulated during the storm. Cable went out at 11:30pm or so last

night. Then the power went off around 12:00am. Power came back on
today
at 9:15am. Cable went back off and has been off and on. This morning
on
my drive to my Emergency Snow Removal Crew I saw transformers flashing a

bright blue light and lighting up the sky. This was happening at a
pretty moderate rate. Tree's are down everywhere. One of tree split in

half and smashed into two separate buildings, leveling one and heavily
damaging the other. The snow stopped for a while at 8:00am and then
picked back up at 8:45am and then stopped a few minutes ago. Grades K-8

have school today at 10:00am (2 hour late start), the high school is on
Spring Break.

Frederick, Md, at least in the city, did not get the extra snow
predicted for
overnight. The total amount that fell was 8 inches in the city. If
there was
a lot of asphalt or concrete, the total was less because the snow melted

quickly when it hit paved areas. Up on the Cactoctin Mountains, just
west of
Frederick, the snowfall was higher - up to 12 inches, and there was no
rain.
Here in the valley, the temperature remained in the high 30's all day
yesterday, and is 40 degrees this morning, with a little wind.
According to
the local paper, wind gusts yesterday (3/13) never exceeded 15 miles per
hour.

Greetings all!

Well, this is the biggest snow here since March 1996 (second biggest
since 3/96 being the 4" surprise snowfall on March 22 last year)! 3-4"
of sidewalks and grassy areas, but on surfaces where the snow stuck
first (took a few hours to stick to grass and sidewalks. Stuck on roofs

and car tops less than an hour after the changeover from rain), there's
6.25" of snow.

Went out to shovel earlier this morning (haven't been able to shovel
snow in 3 years). This snow is very heavy! Anyone going out shoveling
today, take it easy and don't strain yourself!

Branches and power lines were sagging as if it were an ice storm! My
phone was dead early this morning (it's working now), and there was a
transformer fire at the intersection of RT 10 and Pleasant Valley Way.
That was put out and RT 10 was opened back up before 7 a.m. (glad to see

that they took care of that situation quickly!:)).

Many school closings and delayed opening across the area, so the school
kids are quite happy with this storm!:)

This is my first post to this group. I do enjoy the posts I get.

Here in Blacksburg, Virginia, we recieved some very crummy this weekend.
We
got about 2 inches of snow yesterday morning then a cold rain set in for
the
day off and on. Last night we had a thunderstorm roll through at about
9pm.
This morning we recieved 4" of really wet snow in a few hours. We're
expecting the winds to pick so more than likely we'll lose power
tonight.

LI (NY) Update: We received approx. 8.5" in Port Jefferson Station.
(we're about 70 miles east of Manhattan on the North Shore) It's been
snowing lightly since 11:00 AM, but it doesn't look like will be getting

a lot of additional accumulation. Except for a brief period of light
rain earlier in the morning, it stayed all snow from 7:00PM through the
overnight. It wasn't exactly a monster, but it was nice to finally see a

decent snowfall. At this point the greatest threat is to weak hearts and

backs: The wet and slushy snow is very hard to shovel!

PS-Let the record show that today was my daughter Casey's (5 yrs old)
