Ok, headed out for a look round Marengo to get pics of the storm and damage that passed through our area around 2:30 - 3:15pm CDT on May 28, 2003. Below I have included pics and the NWS Warning, and Watch that got issued for the area.
Street flooding was reported, Dangerous Lightning, Heavy Rain, Penny Size hail (i did get hit on the way home), and according to 97ZOK our friends in Rockford... winds of 75MPH were reported. And I can say they were up there! And yes I was driving my grandparents 1979 Ford LTD2 Brougham

At 302 PM CDT A Severe Thunderstorm Was Located 6 Miles Southwest Of Marengo...Moving Southeast At 35 Mph.
* The Severe Thunderstorm Will Be Near... Genoa Around 310 PM CDT.
At 300 PM CDT Local Law Enforcement Reported Power Lines And Tree Damage In Boone County.
This Severe Thunderstorm Is Capable Of Producing... Penny Size Hail. Winds 60 To 75 Mph...Which Can Knock Down Tree Limbs And Power Lines...Damage Sheds...Barns And Other Weak Structures...And Push Trucks Off The Highway.

The Nws Storm Prediction Center Has Issued A Severe Thunderstorm Watch For Portions Of
Northern And Central Illinois Southern Wisconsin Lake Michigan
Effective This Wednesday Afternoon And Evening From 210 PM Until 800 PM CDT.
Hail To 2 Inches In Diameter...Thunderstorm Wind Gusts To 70 Mph...And Dangerous Lightning Are Possible In These Areas.
The Severe Thunderstorm Watch Area Is Along And 55 Statute Miles Either Side Of A Line From 40 Miles West Northwest Of Milwaukee Wisconsin To 15 Miles West Southwest Of Mattoon Illinois.
Remember...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch Means Conditions Are Favorable For Severe Thunderstorms In And Close To The Watch Area. Persons In These Areas Should Be On The Lookout For Threatening Weather Conditions And Listen For Later Statements And Possible Warnings. Severe Thunderstorms Can And Occasionally Do Produce Tornadoes.
Discussion...Thunderstorms Continue To Develop And Intensify From Srn WI Into Nrn IL Along Cold Front Moving Sewd Across The Region. Convection Is Developing Within Left Exit Region Of Mid/Upper Level Jet Streak Digging Sewd Across The Middle Ms Valley.
