[STORMREPORTS] Rain recap and new rainfall record. Smithsburg, MD 2 NE

From: JimTheWeatherGuy{at}aol.com
Date: Wed May 28 2003 - 22:59:55 EDT

Hidi-ho good neighbors. Greetings from the guy who sends too many weather
reports. Today (Wednesday) 0.68 inches of rain fell over my homestead in the
hills. That brings my May total to 9.15 inches. That makes it now the #4 wettest
month on record way behind the #3 spot which is 10.52 inches set in September
1993.
Another rainfall record did fall this month. So far in May (and I do mean so
far since rain is forecasted for the last three days of the month) there has
been 21 days where rainfall has taken place. That surpasses the old record of
19 such days set in November 1997. This time last year my station was in the
midst of the worst drought on record. Now this May it rains for 3/4 of the
month. Go figure. I will not complain. Now where did I leave that umbrella? Until
later.
                            Jim
