"HOPKINSVILLE -- Lightning strikes on Saturday led to two separate fires
on the Clark Store-Sinking Fork Road, one of which completely destroyed a
house the following day.

According to officials of the West Side Volunteer Fire Department, the
first fire occurred Saturday at the Tom Daniels residence, 1230 Clark
Store-Sinking Fork Road. This fire occurred at 4:38 p.m., and because it
was restricted to the attic, damage wasn't too severe. West Side
firefighter Beverly Farrington said 16 firefighters responded to this
blaze, along with four trucks.

On Sunday, West Side fought another, more severe, fire at the Johnny Scott
residence at 180 Clark Store-Sinking Fork Road, which they believe also was
caused by a lightning strike the afternoon before. "The lightning struck
the garage, probably on Saturday, and it spread to the house," said
Farrington."
