Here is more information from NORTH Dakota & Montana:
Snow driven by wind gusting to 77 mph closed schools and made highway
travel hazardous Wednesday on the northern Plains, and halted an Amtrak train.
North Dakota Gov. John Hoeven declared a snow emergency, saying the
northwestern part of the state had snow drifts of up to 20 feet.
A stretch of about 100 miles of Interstate 94 was closed from late Tuesday
until midday Wednesday in eastern Montana, from Miles City to the North
Dakota state line.
At the height of the storm, wind gusted to 77 mph at Glendive, in eastern
Montana.

--Ward County Sheriff Vern Erck said Wednesday that between 90 and 100 vehicles went into ditches, stalled out or became stuck in heavy snow drifts at the height of the storm late Tuesday and into Wednesday. Several people were marooned and some of them had to be rescued by emergency services people.
Erck said there were 33 cars stranded between Minot and Minot Air Force Base on U.S. Highway 83. There were also 20 vehicles in the ditch on U.S. Highway 2 East and a similar number on U.S. Highway 2 west. Ten vehicles were found in the ditch from U.S. Highway 83 to Ward County Road 18, south of Minot.
Interstate 94 and I-29 were also closed for a time because of the storm. I-94 from Miles City, Mont., to Dickinson was reopened Wednesday morning. Interstates in the east were reported to be treacherous.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol reported a chain-reaction crash on the interstate in Fargo, in which one vehicle spun out of control and stopped in the middle lane of traffic. The patrol said it caused a series of rear-end collisions Wednesday morning. No serious injuries were reported."
