[STORMREPORTS] Middletown, Ohio: Storm moves fast, makes impact

From: Barb LaPierre (barbl{at}infinet.com)
Date: Thu Feb 13 2003 - 06:05:24 EST

I was out and driving during this mess, running errands for work! Saw lots
of unique driving...lots of drivers were trying to go at their usual speeds
on their way to work. Unfortunately, my camera was back at the studio. The
storm came about 4 hours earlier than expected, during the school bus runs.
Fortunately, we have very careful school bus drivers.

Storm moves fast, makes impact

A fast-moving weather system swept through the area Tuesday morning,
dumping a couple inches of snow and causing trouble for people on the roads
and crews charged with maintaining them.
Meteorologist Scott Hickman, of the National Weather Service's Wilmington
office, said the snow began falling between 7 and 7:30 a.m. Accumulation
measured between 2 and 2112 inches, he said.
The weather caused a slew of minor accidents on Interstate 75 near
Middletown and Franklin, which eventually necessitated a brief closure of
the freeway around 11 a.m.
A dispatcher for the Ohio Highway Patrol's Lebanon post said about 10 cars
piled up on northbound I-75 at Ohio 123, but no one was injured. She said
most of the accidents Tuesday morning involved cars sliding out of control.
