I would not be surprised to see lake affect snow showers in Florida this
morning. Over the 46 years that I've lived here in the sunshine state I've
same seen the lake affects mentioned by Tony drop snow squalls/showers
routinely during cold air advection situations. It's a very common
occurrence and known to the locals that live downwind but it does not make
the news, due to the chamber of commerce tourism mentality prevelant here in
Florida. Another prolific snow shower producer is the "Florida Mountains"
region of 200-300+ foot hills that
run from Zephyrhills through Dade City and Brooksville to Lecanto along the
central west coast. Also the central ridge area of 200-300+ foot hills in
the vicinity of Mount Plymouth, Mount Dora, Sugarloaf Mountain and Clermont
west of Orlando see the same affect.
By the way this morning it was 32 deg. with a stiff NNW wind here in rural
west Plant City east of Tampa.
Take Care,
