FROM PEMA:

(National Weather Service, 1/4/03) The State Emergency Operations Center
(SEOC) was partially activated January 3 due to the second winter storm to
cross over the Commonwealth since Christmas Day. The National Weather
Services forecast called for heavy snow to impact the state. Snow
accumulations ranged from 6 to 15 inches in northeast Pennsylvania from the
storm that eventually moved out to sea January 4. No major storm related
damage was reported except for sporadic power outages. As of late evening
January 3, the Public Utility Commission reported that approximately 3,000
Penelec customers were without power in northeast
Pennsylvania. Restoration is scheduled for 12:00 p.m., January 4. Shelters
were initially set-up in Tioga and Bradford counties; all shelters were
eventually closed. The SEOC returned to normal operations at 3:00 a.m.,
January 4. The SEOC will follow-up.
