CC: Weather Radar List. I am going to bed now, I will pass through
additional information to the StormReports list in the morning.
Here is a Radar loop for the area during the time in question:
http://www.rap.ucar.edu/cgi-bin/neilley/NIDS_archive?Radar=DLH&Composite=NONE&Start_date=20020902&Start_time=20&Duration=120&Frequency=0&Parameter=0
Hard to say if there is a tornadic signature on the reflectivity of the
loop or not but there is definite rotation on the Velocity image (once the
animation below comes up, stop it at 21:27Z and click on the image to
toggle between reflectivity and velocity).
The news is reporting that there were no Tornado warnings, I would seem to
agree but I haven't gotten my WX-TOR Digest yet today. There are none at
the IWIN site for that timeframe, but I'm not sure how long they stay
unexpired here:
http://iwin.nws.noaa.gov/iwin/wi/tornado.html
Additionally, the original AP article has been updated AGAIN with new
information:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A27554-2002Sep2.html
"A tornado ripped apart a northwestern Wisconsin town Monday, leveling a
Baptist church and a gas station and injuring dozens of people, witnesses
and officials said. The tornado struck downtown Ladysmith at 4:30 p.m.,
the National Weather Service said. Funnel clouds elsewhere in Wisconsin
also knocked down trees and power lines, including one in Wausau and one in
Aniwa."
Of course, we won't know for sure it is a tornado until the NWS does a
survey tomorrow. The AP article also mentioned "funnel clouds elsewhere"
but we'll see what's up tomorrow I guess.
