"A tornado touched down in Ladysmith, Wisconsin Monday afternoon, causing
widespread damage to the town of about 4000 people.
Authorities say the tornado tore through the town at approximately 4:30
Monday afternoon, causing severe damage and injuries. Witnesses say several
buildings, including a hotel, a senior center and a church, suffered
extensive damage.
The Rusk County Sheriff's Department says there have been many injuries but
no reports of fatalities. Rusk County Memorial Hospital would not release
any details on injuries from the storm.
According to witness Sandy Zajec, the downtown area was the hardest hit.
Emergency crews are on the scene.
KARE 11 has a crew en route to Ladysmith and will have more on this story
at 10:00."

Additionally, the original AP article has been updated with new information:

""Most of the town is a disaster. There's buildings missing, down, torn
apart — everything," said Christine Wright, an employee at the Holiday
Station Store in downtown Ladysmith. "They're shutting the town down. There
were injuries but no reports of deaths, the Rusk County Sheriff's
Department said. Rusk County Memorial Hospital would not release details on
injuries.
Wright said a nearby Amoco station was destroyed, and gas was leaking from
the station. She said sheriff's officials were asking people to leave the
city, but the sheriff's department could not be reached to confirm the
magnitude of the evacuation.
Two state highways into Ladysmith were closed, and the State Patrol was
diverting traffic around the area, said dispatcher Donna Gisicki of the
Spooner office. "
