On November 8, 1996, a front with a strong line of thunderstorms, some severe, was headed for the Carolinas. At 8am, temperatures were in the upper 70's in eastern NC and winds were gusty. Needless to say, this is unheard of in November in NC; it was obvious that severe weather was about to spawn.
