Hello all,
The recent post from the member recounting his experience in the "Blizzard of
1993" reminded me of my experience. I had not retired from the police
department yet and had been working the 3-1am shift when the snow started
around 10pm. I made it home without a problem but the next morning we found
that we were completely marooned on the farm that I live on. For the next six
days I had to depend on an officer who lived in a subdivision to pick me up
and take me to work. Some guy tried to charge me $250 to bulldoze our lane
which is 1400 feet long but I declined and said I would walk to work for that
price. I did not get my two cars off of the farm for 6 days. I had to depend
on neighbors who did not live so far from the roadway to pick me up and take
me to the store, etc. I think we had about 24 inches but we had a great
problem with drifting and blowing snow in the two days after the storm.
