Subject: BBC NEEDS TORNADO FOOTAGE FOR DOCUMENTARY
I received a phone call from Mina at BBC asking for assistance in
locating
some specific tornado footage. I told her I would pass her note on to
WX-CHASE (for starters) and see what some of you chasers might have.
Organizations like ABC NewsOne, CBS Archives, and The Weather Channel
should also feel free to reply *directly* to Mina if you have footage.
Mina is also interested in hearing from anyone who used to chase but who
gave it up because things got too crazy, nasty, or yahooy. ..Chris..

Dear Chris,
It was enlightening talking to you the other day. I really appreciate it
that you are offering to help us with trying to get tornado footage and
individual people to talk to us. Enclosed is the info on our current
project.
BBC UK together with The Discovery Channel is doing a 4-part
documentary
about tornado activity in the States.
We are interested to hear about amazing stories and experiences as well
as
trying to obtain professional and amateur footage of the following
tornadoes:
Illinois (19.04.1996);
Oakfield, Wisconsin (18.07.1996);
Spenser, South Dakota (30.05.1998);
Jarrell ,Texas (27.05.1997);
Wheatley, Arkansas (21.01.1999);
Comfrey, Minnesota (29.03.1998);
Arkadelphia, Arkansas (01.03.1997);
Stoneville, North Carolina (20.03.1998);
Oak Grove, Alabama (08.04.1998);
Gainsville, Georgia (20.03.1998);
Nashville ,Tennessee (16.04.1998);
Washington, Iowa (15.05.1998)
Salisbury, Pennsylvania (31.05.1998).
Referring to our conversation I think that the tornado mania is an
interesting aspect to cover in the programme, especially the fact that
some
of the chasers who have been in the business for a long time, are really
getting fed up with tornado tours and tornado tourists. We would
definitely
like to hear from them. Also I would be interested to hear from (I
think
they call themselves Yahoos) the guys who are not stopping at anything,
risking their lives in order to get near the tornadoes and capture them
on
film for posperity. So it would be great if you could spread the word
about
what we are doing at the moment.
