Although I cannot answer Chris' question---that is something
we must each do individually, perhaps this:
If you must leave your family and loved ones to do your
spotting or skywarn duties, be it the next county, or
down the street, you should have already trained and
educated your family on spotting to the same degree you
possess, and also have set up with them a family emergency
plan. If the worse happens, you have the comfort in knowing
that your training and planning will have hopefully protected
them.
