Well folks the warmth continues here in PA. The temperature this time
last night was 47 here at HQ and it rose all night and day to 55 at 8pm
this evening, with scattered showers and gusty winds during the day and
evening. The foot of snow we received just 4 days ago is all but
gone! The high of 55 today is about 22 degrees above normal for the
area.

Dennis Meredith of WSO GSO forwards this info RE: High Pressure in the
Carolinas:

On January 1, 1998, the sea-level pressure at Greensboro, NC reached
30.66". This was a pretty far cry from the record high pressure for
this station -- 30.97" -- which occurred on February 13, 1981. Recently
the
pressure did reach 30.86" on March 10, 1996.

Second highest pressure occurred at GSO on February 28, 1934...it
reached 30.89".

The lowest pressure ever recorded at GSO was 28.64" on March 13, 1993,
during SS93. The next lowest was 28.85" on March 28, 1984, during
the devastating Eastern NC Tornado Outbreak.
