Here is the final report in the form of a 'Public Information Statement'
from the Boston NWS office.
I pulled this off of their website: http://bristol.wbox.noaa.gov
It's a great resource but 'chokes' bigtime when there is an important =
storm
around (because of so many visitors I'm sure).
Measuring the snow here at Beverly Airport, Beverly Mass is a bit of a
challange this afternoon:
In exposed areas [being whipped by a 25kt+ NE wind] I measure around =
3.5"
In less exposed areas I measure generally 5.5" to 8" with a mean average =
of 6.25" which I
suppose fits well with the Peabody report of 6".
5:00pm: it's 25f, 1.5SM visibility in S- and BS... Very blustery.. We
started off the storm around 9:30pm last night as a mix of rain and wet =
snow. It became all snow by 11pm with a temp of 33f. The temp rose to 34 =
but it continued to snow, sticking to everything. The coastal
front sent temps back into the upper 20s after 5am, followed by a 4 hour =
burst of moderate to heavy
snowfall. The rest of the day has been S- with quick bursts of S..
The AVN shows a 1004mb low centered over SC on Monday morning with the =
rain/snow line running around Cape Hatteras to Atlanta, GA. This means =
that coastal VA, NC [excluding Wilmington initially] and interior SC
and maybe even around ATL will see snow or a wintry mix. The best chance =
of real accumulations will
be in VA and NC especially in interior and mountains. Snow on the tail =
end possible down to the SC
coastline.
