Flooding has occurred across the Eastern U.S. today.
Here in State College we have had about 1.5" of rain with some minor
flooding. My parents in Wilkes County NC report 4" of rain with
flooding. I received a detailed report this morning on the flooding in
the Carolinas from Don Heard.
There were 7 tornado warnings issued last night from the NWS GSP
office. (See http://www.weatherwatchers.org/archive/severe/ for recent
severe statements)
There are a couple of very strong storms in westernmost VA
(supercell-like) and WV this evening, with several Mesocyclones detected
and a max dBZ of 69.
