Hello J and Fellow Members.......
It is hard for me to believe that there is any truth to this incident J
speaks of. I don't
know about the rest of the members, but our weather station works very
closely
with the National Weather Service and the local Emergency Management
Agency.
We also work with the Red Cross in practice drills and participate in
activities that
involve our community. We basically communicate with all local and
federal agencies.
Now let me say with some reserve, that we did not become famous
overnight. It took
hard work and contacting the right people in the right manner. We didn't
just walk in
to the EMA's office and announce ourselves. As maybe this "Steve" person
did.
We have not been a members of the CASI very long. But, of the members I
have
personally meet and the ones I have communicated with by other means, I
must say
that I have yet to meet anyone that appeared to be non-professional. All
appeared to
be professionals that work with their local agencies in a professional
manner.
Therefore, I see no real threat in what this individual has reported. If
it were true, I
honestly believe that more information would have been given to J so
that he could
get to the bottom of this before rumours could get started. Now think
about it........
Don't you think that the National Weather Service would have already
contacted
us in some manner if in fact we were violating laws and under some
investigation?
I strongly believe we need to let this incident die where it lays. If
you work with
your local NWSFO's in a professional manner and make aware your presence
to your EMA and EOC's, you will find the local law enforcement agencies
are more
than willing to work with you.
Good luck members and keep up the true professional attitude of our
membership.
Sincerely,
BJ and Staff
