FYI I see that NWS's IWIN has redesigned recently, improving their state
by state pages and adding a US Radar which includes tops and speeds,
similar information to Intellicast's "Radar Summary". Not sure on their
update times, but it's 6Z now and the current image is for 4Z. They
have
also added greateer functionality for selecting surface obs from a state
map, and have added a decent satellite.
You can see the radar at http://iwin.nws.noaa.gov/iwin/radar/rcm.gif or
just go through the Local Weather pages at
http://iwin.nws.noaa.gov/iwin/iwdspg1.html
In other rumors (and I don't speak officially here), Personal
Accuweather
will begin charging on 12/1/97, as they missed their 11/1 launch
deadline.
A service with less updated weather data and less products will remain
free.
The pay service should be upgraded to a nexrad radar with more levels
than
their current one, and should be updated real time (6 or 10 minutes).
CASI Website News: The only thing new this week is a daytime animated
GIF of the
CASICAM (which is now updating every 30 minutes) at
http://www.weatherwatchers.org/wxcam/ (Warning: that page is rather
large).
Notice: If you change e-mail addresses, *please* let me know. Since
CASI
is very dependent on electronic business when we lose email addresses
we lose valuable eyes and ears. We've lost a couple of dozen members'
addresses
recently with returned or refused mail. You can get a constant address
from
many places on the net, juno.com, bigfoot.com, and hotmail.com to
mention a
few, for free I should say; you can get your own domain for $50/year and
then you'd have a constant address as well.
If you know any of these members' new or alternate addresses please
let me know. I don't want to lose contact with them.

Thanks! Well, since the temperature has been between 39 and 43 for the
last 50 hours, I think I don't have to worry about exciting weather this
evening and will go to bed.
