        World Weather Summary
Updated: July 2, 2005 6:51 a.m.
July began with unusually heavy rain in Lahore, Pakistan. Thundery
downpours left 5.4 inches of rain within less than twelve hours Friday
on the city; this accounts for about 90% of the average rainfall for
all of July.

Excessive amounts of rain continued to wash parts of western
India's state of Gujarat Friday. In the city of Ahmadabad, rainfall
was 10.3 inches within 33 hours through Friday.

It's been quite rainy lately in portions of Bangladesh, too.
Forty-eight hour rainfall as of late Friday, local time, were 4.8 and
4.6 inches, respectively, at Ishurdi and Cox's Bazar.

While certainly no day at the beach, Friday was relatively mild at
Russia's Vostok base which is set on the lofty ice cap of East
Antarctica. The high of -55 degrees was well above the average high
for the date -- minus-83 degrees.

Meanwhile, some other parts of East Antarctica were clenched in
blizzards Friday. On the Princess Astrid Coast, Novolazarevskaya, a
Russian outpost, and Maitri, an Indian facility, were both whipped by
sustained winds blowing 50-70 mph; blowing snow made for blinding
whiteouts. Japan's Syowa base on the Prince Olav Coast suffered
through similar weather.

High heat wafted from the Sahara to some segments of Mediterranean
coast in Libya Thursday and Friday. At Tarabulus (Tripoli), the
national capital, Thursday's high was 104 degrees, then Friday reached
at least 108. The mean daily high near the start of July is 94
degrees, so these marks were 10-15 degrees above average.

The combination of 100-degree heat, high humidity, strong sunshine
and other atmospheric effects yielded a top AccuWeather RealFeel
Temperature(tm) of 127 degrees Friday at Al Fujayrah, United Arab
Emirates.
