A heavy, wet snowstorm buried portions of far eastern Russia's
Khabarovsk Province Monday through Wednesday evening, local time. At
Ayan, a city on the Sea of Okhotsk, 48 hours of heavy snow increased
the snow depth by more than two feet to about 40 inches. The storm's
output in liquid equivalent was 2.8 inches as of Wednesday evening.

Thundershowers rumbling through Beirut, Lebanon, Wednesday left
almost 0.8 of an inch of rain in less than six hours. This rainfall
was greater than the average rainfall for all of May which is about
0.7 of an inch.

Forty-eight hour rainfall ended midday Wednesday, local time, was
5.7 inches at Toamasina, eastern Madagascar. This rainfall is 60% of
the mean rainfall for all of May.

Soaking thunderstorms struck eastern parts of Mexico's Yucatan
Peninsula late Tuesday and Tuesday night. Rainfalls were 4.3 inches at
Felipe Carrillo Puerto and 3.8 inches at Chetumal in the 24 hours
ended Wednesday morning.

Torrential rains pounded parts of New Zealand's North Island
Tuesday to Wednesday, local time. Rainfalls were 5.8 inches at
Tauranga, 3.9 inches in Napier and 3.6 inches at Hicks Bay.
