Winchester (nw) VA

Last weekend's storm brought a wide variety of weather to the Mid
Atlantic. Thunderstorms & rain showers brought radar indicated 3-4"
amounts in just a few hours along VA's northern Blue Ridge, and in
suburban MD between Baltimore & Washington. Several daily rainfall
records were broken. Media coverage of flooding was minimal because of
breaking news (the Pope's death).

On Sunday (4/03), gale force winds swept along the Allegany Front
(roughly along US 220) into the northern Shenandoah Valley. Damaging
winds were reported east in the Washington DC region.

One of the most incredible images is of a tree, laying sideways and
completely off the ground, slicing a woman's house. The house was
destroyed, she was not hurt.

Late Sunday evening, a Allegany Power crew and firefighters were
clearing a tree from power lines and WV259 at Capon Lake WV. A tractor
trailer slammed into the group, killing a linesman, and injuring the 6
others. Firefighters & EMS from 3 counties assisted in the aftermath.
The trucker claimed his brakes failed, and charges were pending as of
Wednesday.

I measured 1.11" Friday night & Saturday. My PWG Sunday was 45mph.
