[STORMREPORTS] High Winds and Heavy Rain. Smithsburg, MD. 2 NE
Hidi-ho good neighbors. Greetings from the wind tunnel of the mid Atlantic. I am sorry for the flurry of emails. This should be the last one. The high winds continue at my homestead in the hills where the wind has been blowing over 30 mph sustained for nearly 36 hours. At 12:02 AM the wind gusted out of the South at 51 mph. Couple that with Thursday's peak gust of 59 mph and I have come to realize that I picked the wrong place to build a home. At 9:30 AM the wind is still brisk out of the North at 33 mph sustained gusting to 44 mph.

Over a six hour period this morning 1.40 inches of rain fell over my homestead. That is a record high for the date smashing the previous and lowly record of 0.36 of an inch set in 1982. It is also the first time my area has seen an inch or more of rainfall in a 24 hour period since September 28. Still I figure we are getting off lightly compared to the West Coast. Until later............
