Hi Ron,

Here in Plant City I had 28 deg. for a min. temp. this morning with a min. wind chill temp of 18 deg and min. dewpoint temp of 20 deg.

Yes I was dead serious beginning two weeks about a "Siberian Arctic Express" and snow in central Florida. I used long range modeling AND teleconnection patterns. The intensity of this next freeze is not nailed down for certain yet but it could rival December 1989 and 1983.

I've been warning people from Iowa to West Virginia to North Carolina but unfortunately though most people have been very skeptical of my forecast because the government has said nothing about it until now. The source region of this air mass will be Siberian Russia where minimum temps. have been running 30 deg. below normal for a month. This air mass may drop minimum temps. down to -20 deg. F in Nashville like in December 1989!!!

As I officially retired from "for profit" weather forecasting in 2000, I do not have the time available to conduct an in depth daily meteorological
synoptic analysis, therefore my day to day accuracy will be less then in past years, when I had a 48 hour forecast accuracy in the high 90% range.
Also as Meteorology and Weather Forecasting is still an inexact science, these not for profit discussions, forecasts and outlooks are not for use in

  Thomas,

I was reading the forecast discussion this morning and the guy who wrote it sounded pretty astounded at the 5 day outlook. So, decided to check for myself. Seems FNMOC long range progs indicate a direct cold shot into the southeast coming right down off the Arctic, nothing to slow it down. If this thing pans out your prediction might have been too optimistic. Could get colder than cold here. I thought this was Florida, not North Dakota. Anyway, the models hint at a pocket of moisture off Tampa Bay so your snow forecast might just hit....though a couple of days earlier than you thought. Just in time for the solstice.

Friction evidently kept my temp from falling more. The dew point dropped to 21 but a couple knots of wind kept me from having a real hard freeze. It did manage to fall to 29 though. Relatively toasty as compared to some other locations.

  Cheers!

  Peace & Serenity,
  Ron
