Winchester VA

A cold front ushered in damaging winds to the northern mid Atlantic
Wednesday. Widespread gusts over 50mph were reported.

At 5pm Wednesday, WRC tv reported 41,500 without power at 5pm in the
Washington metro region. By 10pm, only 16,784 were still dark, according
to WTTG tv.

In Baltimore, WJZ tv reported 37,065 in the dark at 5pm. About 2/3 of
those were in Anne Arundel and Baltimore counties MD.

The most noted damage in the Washington region was the complete collapse
of a house in the northwest part of the city.

Northeast of Baltimore, a fire on the first floor of an apartment
building quickly spread to the roof. It was a 3 alarm blaze that brought
100 firefighters to the scene.

>From the PNS, winds neared 60mph at Frostburg MD, Martinsburg WV, &
Keyser WV.

Musselman MS, Bunker Hill WV, 54mph
Belmont Ridge HS, Leesburg VA, 54mph

In the Washington DC area 12 of about 40 stations exceeded 50mph,
including...

My PWG was a mere 35mph. Only a few long branches down in the yard.
Power company is still working here (4am) to clear up problems caused
