[STORMREPORTS] NJ Rain
Heavy rain was expected in the Philadelphia, PA to Trenton, NJ, region yesterday, but nothing like this.
The reported record was in Tabernacle, NJ, with over 13 inches of rain (official total not yet available). Many areas in Burlington and Camden Counties in NJ received over a foot of rain with similar amounts in Montgomery and Berks Counties in PA.
The Cooper River in Camden County, NJ broke its old river crest level by about 1.5 feet.
Power outages were numerous, but as of this morning have all been restored.
My location, Hamilton, NJ, Mercer County, received 4.92 inches of rain. And boy did we need it!! I did record two time periods when the rain was falling at just about 4"/hr. In my four years at this location I have only recorded that rain rate one other time.
Philadelphia airport set a new daily record for July 12, with 4.75 inches, blowing away the old record of 1.40 inches set in 1949.
Just in...Medford Township, Burlington County, NJ, 300 people evacuated due to a burst dam near the convergence of the Delaware River and Rancocos Creek. No injuries reported.
