[STORMREPORTS] Friday Florida Heat
Here in suburban SW Plant City east of Tampa I observed a maximum temperature of 96 deg. on Friday 07/09/04. The big news though was that the dewpoint dropped to 55 deg. and the relative humidity dropped to 25%. Unusually dry for a Florida day in July! The hot spot in the state was 97 deg. in Punta Gorda on the SW peninsula.
Today with high pressure at all levels parked over the peninsula and therefore a subsiding and dry atmosphere I expect some inland areas to flirt with 100 deg. If the strong cap is broken later today I would also expect to see some isolated strong to severe thunderstorms break out late in the day.
Wetter weather returns for Sunday and the upcoming work week could turn out very wet indeed.
