Last night was the coldest night all around in
recorded history at my station in Baiting Hollow, NY.
The temperature dropped to a all time low of 0º at
midnight. Records go back nine years. The ten minute
average windchill reached as low as -20º with a low of
-27º (new equation). Using the old equation, the
windchill smashed the old record by reaching an
unbelievable -52º with a temp of 0º and gusts to
42mph. Blowing snow created blizzard like conditions
all night and some snow is still blowing around on
35mph. to 40mph. gusts.
Right now it is still brutally cold. The temp is
9º with 20mph. ten minute winds gusting up to 38mph.,
the wind chill is -9º.
Stay warm.
Artie
