"QUEBEC CITY - While bitter wind chills and heavy wind warnings were in
effect in many parts of the province, the Gaspé region was hit with a
smorgasbord of foul weather that kept many at home Wednesday.

It was warmer in the Gaspé region, only –19, than in many parts of the
province.

But schools in the area are closed for the day as snow and winds are
expected to reach 90-100 kilometers per hour Wednesday.

Environment Canada listed blizzard, wind, and heavy snowfall warnings for
the area.

In Montreal, as in most of the province, a wind chill warning remained in
effect as temperatures were expected to plummet to –40 and beyond with the
wind Wednesday night."
