Temperatures have plummeted this evening in Central Pennsylvania. Here at
WeatherMatrix HQ in State College PA, the temperature has fallen from 15 at
4pm to 1 degree at 10:15pm! Our wind chill (old formula) fell to -26 at 9pm.

I have been keeping records here since late 1997. Here are some records
we are breaking / might break tonight:

- Should we get to zero tonight, that will tie the record low temperature
at this station (that record was set 3 times last winter)
- 1 is the lowest temperature at this time of night ever (previous record
was 4 at 10pm)
- Temperatures usually go down gradually during the evening here and there
have been only 4 other occasions on record with a temperature in the single
digits at this time of night
- Tomorrow's predicted HIGH of 10-15 F is considerably lower than our
normal LOW of 18.

Our local NWS office warns: "THE COLDEST AIR OF THE WINTER HAS SETTLED
INTO THE REGION...AND LIGHT NORTH TO NORTHEAST WINDS WILL CREATE WIND
CHILLS BETWEEN 15 AND 20 BELOW ZERO EARLY TONIGHT."

Other nearby temperatures (at 10pm):

Lewistown AWS: 5
Bellefonte AWS: 2
PSU ASOS: 3
KUNV: 5

Other temperatures from PA (at 10pm):

KBFD Bradford: -7
KMPO Mount Pocono: -6
KAVP Avoca: -2
KDUJ Dubois: 2
KGKJ: 1
KFKL: 1

It's worse, much worse in neighboring New York State:

KSLK: -29
KGFL: -14
KART: -13
KELM -13
KEPO -12
KUCA -12

And the negative teens and 20s go up to Maine.
