"In southeast Montana, an estimated 200 travelers were stranded in Hardin
after state officials shut down Interstate 90 between Billings and Hardin
because of blowing snow and ice-packed pavement.

While snowfall was expected to taper off as the storm moved east, blizzard
warnings were issued in parts of eastern Montana through Sunday morning
when winds were expected to reach gusts of 45 mph.

"We haven't had a storm like this in several years," said Donald Moore, a
National Weather Service meteorologist in Billings.

Snowfall reached as deep as 3 feet in Hobson in central Montana with drifts
reaching 5 feet. Winds were already limiting visibility, prompting the
Montana Department of Transportation to shut down U.S. 191 from the
Canadian border to south of Malta."
