It's warming up for Christmas week here in Central Pennsylvania but the
first three weeks of the month have been quite snowy here at WeatherMatrix
HQ in State College, PA. They say it's going to be a warmer winter than
last year but the end of the Fall has been something else.
This is even worse than last year! Late Fall & Winter 2002-3 was unlike
anything I had seen in my 6 years here. We started out with significant
snow on October 29 and ended up with 85" for the season (normal is 47").
This Fall already, we started out with measurable snow on OCTOBER 3rd, the
earliest in 30 years, and so far this December we have picked up around TWO
FEET of snow, compared to 10" last "snowy" December by this
time. Yesterday the 21st ended an 11-day period with snowfall recorded
each day and was only the second day this month with no snowcover... this
snowcover has prevented yard decorating for Christmas for all but those who
did it Thanksgiving weekend.
