65 deg. here in suburban SW Plant City, FL this morning after a high
temperature of only 72 deg. yesterday. Though our warm fall weather so far
is unusual it's not unheard of. November 1980 was warm too with a mid month
tropical depression crossing the central peninsula but was followed by the
bitter January 1981 when minimum temperatures fell below 10 deg. F in inland
rural areas of the west central peninsula.
While we have been basking in warmth in Florida the Northern Plains and
Rocky Mountain regions of the U.S. and Canada have been suffering under
minimum temperatures of 10 to 20 deg. below zero F. Very very cold for late
October and early November.
As follows are GFS model max. & min. temperatures for west central Florida
for this week.

El Nino continues to slowly strengthen and I still expect a wetter and
colder then normal winter 2003-2004 for Florida. However colder then normal
does NOT mean any devastating freezes. Historically only one devastating
freeze has occurred in the past 100 years under El Nino conditions.
