"The eye of fast-moving Hurricane Fabian reached the western part of
Bermuda on Friday afternoon, lashing the mid-Atlantic vacation spot with
sustained winds of 120 mph winds and pelting rains.

More than 25,000 homes lost power. Phone service was down in some areas,
and hospitals were relying on generators. One man received minor injuries
after being hit in the head by falling debris. A woman's car was smashed by
a downed tree but she walked away uninjured.

A satellite dish and instruments to measure wind speeds were ripped from
their moorings and blown away from Bermuda's Weather Service, which was
trying to make speedy repairs."

Two police officers and two civilians are feared missing this morning after
Hurricane Fabian slammed into Bermuda yesterday snapping trees, knocking
out power with fierce winds.
John Burchall, the Bermuda government's spokesman, said the four people are
believed to have been swept into white-capped waters when winds blew their
vehicles off a shattered causeway connecting Bermuda's main island to the
airport."
