Here is a local newspaper article about the storms in Centre County
Saturday night.
http://www.centredaily.com/mld/centredaily/news/6453813.htm
"That violent and lasting combination of a rain blitz and electrical storm
left motorists stranded and sent emergency personnel scrambling. Some
arrived at a tree torched by a lightning strike along West College Avenue
near the Penn State Golf Course; it continued to smolder until Sunday morning.
While forks of lightning illuminated the sky, some traffic lights went
black and temporarily darkened a few streets in State College. Borough
police manually directed cars through the hectic intersection at Atherton
Street and West College Avenue.
In all, about 600 Allegheny Power customers from State College to Centre
Hall lost their electricity, according to the power company. Most had
service restored by 2 a.m. Sunday, and the rest had their power returned
five hours later, spokeswoman Sonya Miller said.
Elsewhere, on U.S. Route 220 between Port Matilda and Milesburg, state
police responded to a "minor mud slide" that crept across the road just
south of Eagle Towing and Recovery Inc.
On Penn State's University Park campus, authorities discovered minor
flooding in the Eisenhower Parking Deck, where the campus police have their
headquarters.
Township officials shut down a flooded section of North Corl Street, which
remained closed late Sunday.
Albright said his department also heard about flooding along state Route 26
on Pine Grove Mountain, along state Route 45 between Pine Grove Mills and
Rock Springs, and on Science Park Road near Circleville."
