From: Sailboat3014{at}cs.com
Date: Mon May 05 2003 - 16:48:38 EDT

A weather system from missipi and the tennessy valley is capable of producing
tornados as 3:45 pm, but will loose intensity when passing thru the NC
mountains.
Moist sw flow will continue to redevelop widespread...locally heavy rain and
thunderstorms across the watch area through tuesday morning. rainfall amounts
since this morning have totalled over one half inch across a fairly large
area... with localized amounts from one to one and a half inches across the
southwest nort carolina mountains. Rainfall totals through tuesday morning
will range from one to three inches with locally higher amounts likely.

A flood watch means flooding is possible but not imminenet.

A flood watch is issued when the potential exist for streams and creeks to
rise to near or above bankfull levels. These rises are ussually due to
excessive rain falling on already saturated ground. People in the watch area
should keep abreast of the weather and prepare to move to higher ground
should a warning be issued.
