"The spring thaw is usually a welcome time of year for Canadians. But in
southern Manitoba, the warmer weather and heavy rainfall are making life
miserable.

In Winnipeg, entire neighbourhoods were under water this weekend, thanks to
melting snow and heavy rain. On Friday, Manitoba issued the flood warning
for the entire province east of Gladstone and south of Gimli.

Winnipeg received a record 76 millimetres of rain in a 24-hour period. That
more than doubles the old record of 32 millimetres, set in 1878."
