High winds down trees, knock out power; snow expected today.....At Grandfather Mountain near Boone, winds gusted as high as 174 mph
early Monday. It was the highest wind speed recorded at the mountain during March, breaking the previous record of 161 mph on March
24, 1991, officials said.
