QUOTES:
"A state of emergency has been declared in parts of New Zealand after one
of the worst summer storms on record killed two people and flooded large
areas of the country.

The storms have affected the bottom of North Island where large areas are
still under floodwater.

Storms at the weekend, with winds gusting at 100 mph, dumped up to eight
inches on the centre of the country.

However, the storm has been described as the worst in 40 years, and the New
Zealand Insurance Council said the damage bill could top NZ$100 million
(£37 million)."
