[STORMREPORTS] Central Texas Snow

From: Ronnie Prcin (rprcin{at}hot.rr.com)
Date: Sat Feb 14 2004 - 21:33:09 EST

I have posted some photos that I took of this morning's (2/14) snow event. You can find them at http://home.hot.rr.com/ronnieprcin/february.htm The photos were taken in and around Temple, Texas which is about 60 miles north of Austin in IH35.

We received two rounds of snow, the first between 10:30 a.m. and noon on Friday. Snowfall was around 1 inch. This had melted by sunset Friday. The second round of snowfall occurred between midnight and 2 a.m. Saturday morning. Snowfall this time around was 1 to 2 inches. The temperature remain right at the freeze mark so other than a few overpasses, the road remain passable.

The temperature had risen to the mid 30's by noon on Saturday and most of the snow had disappeared by that time. We finally saw a high of 42 degrees this afternoon and a few brief peaks at the sun.
