[STORMREPORTS] Heavy snow cover in central PA

From: Bob Davis (bobdavis{at}silverstar.com)
Date: Thu Feb 05 2004 - 19:44:42 EST

I noted with interest Jesse's post regarding the 2 feet plus of snow
now on the ground in much of central PA. I lived in eastern PA for
27 years and the only times I remember that much snow cover
were during the winter of 1977-78 and also right after the Blizzard
of '96 when we got 25" from that single storm. Out here in far
western Wyoming folks are much more accustomed to deep snow cover -
right now I'm showing 33" on my backyard snow stake. I measured 30"
on 1/1 and 26" on 1/15; it's been cold enough that very little has
melted.
Nobody complains about snow out here since the area has been in a
drought situation for several years now. However, as much as I
like snow it will be nice to see green grass again - something we
haven't seen since Halloween.

Bob
