[STORMREPORTS] Trenton, NJ storm summary

From: Eric Greenberg (green99{at}optonline.net)
Date: Thu Dec 26 2002 - 09:26:02 EST

Here in Trenton, NJ, the heavy rain (1.48" in my rain bucket) changed to
heavy snow at 12:15 PM on Christmas Day. Our temps. hovered at 33-34F for
the entire afternoon and evening. At no time did we have more than 2" of
slush on the ground, as it was melting almost as fast as it was
falling. The snow changed to flurries at 10:00 PM last night. At that
time the temp. dropped to 30F and then we received another burst of
moderate snow from the tail end of the low pressure. This morning we have
1" of crust on the ground and we are at 29F. I knew this was all we would
get because I purchased a new snow blower about 2 weeks ago :-)

Strangely enough, about 5 miles NE of here, they received 6" of snow. We
had our Christmas in Edison, NJ where they had 5" of snow when we left at
8:00 PM. The entire drive home was what I would call blizzard conditions,
but the warm ground here would just not support the accumulations received
throughout the Northeast.

A quick scan of snow fall totals show between 0.5" and 19" of snow
throughout NJ, and the town of Little Falls, NY, seems to be the winner at
36.5"!!

Eric
