I live just north of Charlotte, NC. The ice storm that came through the area Wednesday and Thursday was a doozie. Duke Power announced more than 1.2 million customers without power and many may be without power for days. They are saying the effects of the ice storm surpasses even that caused by Hurricane Hugo. The ice damage was extensive. Trees are down everywhere. I was lucky that my power was only out for 16 hours and no trees have fallen on my house (so far). The only real damage was from a tree that fell and smashed my new Davis Vantage Pro weather station to bits. Is that ironic or what? I took some pictures on Thursday of how things looked here on and around my property in Huntersville, NC.
