In the Charlotte,NC area, not much snow to 30 miles north just freezing
rain.Lots of it.Power is out for fully half of all Duke Power
customers. That's about 1.2 million people. The general consensus is several
days before all customers are back on line.
We had roughly 1/2 to3/4 inch of ice on all surfaces.Manty trees are damaged
or have fallen. All Charlotte area counties are under state of emergency. One
Duke Power spokesman is coampering the outage to hurricane Hugo back in
1989.
