>Hear at Gaithersburg 2 WNW Maryland, the maximum temperature failed to
>reach 40
>on Wednesday, October 30, 2002. The 39 max I recorded was a first for my
>station
>(records going back to 1979) - first time I ever recorded a max temp under
>40 in
>October. The previous low max temp record for the month was 45 back on October
>31, 1993. The previous low max temperature (daily) record for October 30
>was 49
>also back in 1993.
>
>My monthly maximum temperature of 84 on October 3 set a daily max temperature
>record for that particular date, but failed to topple the monthly record of 89
>set back on October 21 and 22 back in 1979. The monthly high min of 68 on the
>morning of the 4th tied the monthly high min record, originally set back on
>October 4, 1986.
>
>After a really dry start to the month with only a Trace of precipitation
>through
>the 9th, measurable rain has fallen on 14 of the next 21 days, totalling an
>amount of 5.92", which looks to be my monthly amount with probably only a
>trace
>falling today (the 31st)... That is a whopping 2.42" above my normal amount of
>3.50", and leaving us with a total precipitation amount of 34.90" so far
>for the
>year, only 2.47" below the normal amount of YTD (year-to-date)
>precipitation of
>37.37".
>
>I sure hope this means a cold and snowy winter, but I am not
>counting on it.
