[STORMREPORTS] Report on Fay

From: Jeff Geyer (aerialjg{at}ev1.net)
Date: Fri Sep 06 2002 - 15:35:22 EDT

Tropical Storm Fay is still in the Gulf of Mexico, meandering around.

Currently, the storm has no truly defined 'eye', and does not have a definite center of circulation. But, the NWS has been able to determine a so-called center.

At 1430 CDT, Fay is approximately 100 miles SOUTH of Galveston. Latest winds recorded are 60mph. Pressure is 1000Mb.

The system is stationary, and is gaining strength, slowly. Forecast movement is to the West, Northwest, which will take it down the coast of Texas. There is a very large area of precipitation on the East side, and this is beginning to enter to upper Texas, Eastern Louisiana coastline.

There is a Tropical Storm WARNING for an area along the Texas coast, from Port Aransas, to Intercostals City Louisiana. There is a Hurricane WATCH from Port Aransas to High Island, TX.

As I receive more information on Fay, I will be posting it here.

Jeff
