>From Allentown Morning Call ( March 23, 2002 )

Wintry wind gusts of 20 to 25 mph toppled trees
and knocked down wires throughout the region Thursday
night, causing power outages to thousands of homes and
businesses.
Shortly before midnight, 1,720 homes and
businesses were still without power, said PPL Electric
Utilities spokeswoman Kathy Frazier.
"It's all wind-related," Frazier said. "Wires
came down."
Nearly 2,000 customers were without power at the
height of the outages in the Trexlertown area after a
tree knocked down wires near Routes 222 and 100,
Frazier said.
The high winds knocked out power in parts of
Upper Macungie, Lower Macungie, and Salisbury
township, Trexlertown, the Lehigh Parkway area in
Allentown and portions of Bethlehem.
A large tree toppled by high winds knocked out
power to 1,910 customers in Bethlehem, Frazier said.
In Lower Milford Township, Police Chief Jeffrey
Tapler closed Chestnuthill Church Road near Limeport
Pike after a large tree fell in the road.
