MANILA, March 23-- Tropical Storm "Caloy" left three
persons dead and 32 others missing in its wake in the
central Philippines as it moved towards the South
China Sea on Saturday, a Philippine Star online news
report said.
Most of Caloy's victims lived in the Visayas
region, particularly in Cebu, and the majority of those
reported missing were fishermen who ignored the threat
of the weather disturbance to catch fish, the report
said.
Strong winds and huge waves spawned by Caloy hit
the region two days ago, and the Coast Guard had
ordered beforehand a suspension of operations of
vessels weighing below 1,000 gross tons.
The Coast Guard has dispatched patrol craft to
search for the missing.
