Record Report - Wednesday, October 17, 2001
Temple, Bell County, Texas (60 miles N of Austin, Texas)
A chilly morning across Central and South Central Texas with a new record low
temperature of 39 degrees at the local NWS reporting station in Waco, Texas (35 mi
N). The previous record was 41 degrees set in 1948. My weather station is currently
offline but I had to defrost a thin layer of ice off the windshield so it was in the
upper 30's here also.
There were two other stations that tied record lows this morning and another one tied
their record low. Austin dropped to 35 degrees replacing the previous record of 44
degrees set in 1997 and previous years. San Antonio dropped to 40 degrees which
replaced the previous record of 43 degrees set in 1943. And College Station tied
their record low of 42 degrees that was originally set in 1948.
